Harties Riding Club emphasizes the happiness and well-being of horses, adhering to a motto that “Harties Horses are happy horses.”
Horses are housed in as natural conditions as possible and are allowed daily access to extensive paddocks with excellent grazing.
Feeding and Nutritional Approach: Horses are custom-fed based on their needs, using Spurwing feed products, with the flexibility to use other products as necessary.
Separation and Special Care:
Mares and geldings are kept in separate paddocks to ensure a smooth and structured environment.
Expert Involvement and Regular Checkups:
Professional Services: Regular visits by a farrier (Ozzie Balmer), equine dentist (Andrew Portch), and saddle fitters (Sommer Saddles) ensure optimal care and maintenance of the horses.
The farrier visits every 5-6 weeks, and other farriers can be engaged if horse owners prefer.
Dentists and saddle fitters visit at least semi-annually.
Staff and Management:
Knowledgeable Staff: The riding club employs well-trained grooms with a healthy groom-to-horse ratio (approximately 1:5).
Experienced Leadership: John Mokhoanzi (the Headman) and Elisha (Assistant Coach and Work Rider) have notable expertise, with the former also capable of doing most saddlery repairs.
Communication: Grooms are supplied with data every month to maintain seamless communication with various stakeholders like owners, vets, and maintenance personnel.
Safety and Hygiene Precautions during Covid-19:
Adherence to COVID-19 guidelines is indicated by measures like having grooms saddle and off-saddle horses, aiming to minimize the number of people in the tack room.
Additional Services:
Comprehensive Show Preparation: Grooms can prepare horses for shows, handling tasks such as plaiting, trimming, and creating quarter marks, ensuring ease and convenience during events.
Adaptability and Customization:
The stabling facility is flexible in accommodating specific needs, such as alternative feed products and farrier services.
It offers a structured yet customizable experience for horse owners and maintains a high standard of care for the animals.
